Chiles Baseball Upsets Lincoln on the Road

On Apr. 1, the Lincoln baseball team (13-8) hosted Chiles (13-7) in their second meeting of the regular season. In their first meeting, the Trojans bested the Timberwolves with a final score of 6-1 on Mar. 6. Earlier this week, Chiles got their revenge advancing to 13-7 on the season with a 3-2 win over the Trojans in a non-conference away game at Lincoln high school.

The second match-up between Chiles and Lincoln was a very tight, low-scoring game with only five runs scored in seven innings. Chiles made their move early in the first inning bringing home three runs credited to Tyler Correa (Sr.), Carter Allen (Sr), and Joel Harvey (Jr.). No other runs were scored until the fourth inning where Lincoln’s, TJ Harley (Sr.) and Cody Garber (Jr.) both crossed home plate putting the Trojans down one run heading into the fifth inning. Both teams could not get anything going offensively in the last three innings which resulted in a 3-2 win for the Timberwolves.

Notable performances for Chiles included Saunder Dinkleman (Jr.) with two RBI’s on one at bat, Tyler Correa with one run and two RBI’s, and pitcher Jack Neely (Sr.) recording seven strikeouts.

Notable performances for Lincoln include Chase fuller (So.) with one RBI and one stolen base, Cody Garber with one hit and one RBI, and pitcher TJ Harley with three strikeouts.
