Florida High Flag Football Advances to Regional Finals

After their dominant performance against Andrew Jackson (8-10) in the FHSAA 1A regional quarterfinals, the Florida High flag football team (14-3) matched up against Suwannee (11-8) in the regional semifinals on Apr. 28. The Seminoles won once again in convincing fashion beating the Bulldogs 33-0.

As the first seed in their region, the Seminoles hosted Suwannee in Tallahassee for the semi-finals. Florida High had multiple notable performances on both sides of the ball including QB Danielle White (Jr.) who accounted for three total touchdowns (one rushing, two passing), 131 yards on 11 completions out of 14 attempts and a quarterback rating of 130.4. Other notable performances on offense for the Seminoles include WR’s Azura Vermette (Jr.), who had 50 yards on two receptions and Hannah Bowden (Fr.) who had two receptions with one of them being a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, Florida High players Makayla McGriff (8th) and Emma Prosser both accounted for two pick 6’s with McGriff returning her interception 55 yards and Prosser returning hers 45 yards. Other Notable defensive players for the Seminoles include Danielle White who had two tackles and one interception and Hannah Bowden who led the team in tackles with a total of six.

With this win, the Seminoles are hosting Bradford in the FHSAA 1A Regional finals on May. 1. These two teams have only met once before during the regular season which ended in a Florida High victory with a final score of 13-7.
