On May 8, the Chiles flag football team (15-5) played there first game in the FHSAA 3A Final Four against Homestead (16-5). The Timberwolves upset the Broncos in the state semifinals 18-7 to advance to the state championship game against top seeded Seminole Ridge (17-2). Chiles ended up losing the title game 26-2 bringing the Timberwolves’ historic season to an end.
In the semifinals of the FHSAA 3A state tournament, the third seeded Chiles Timberwolves took on the second seeded Homestead Broncos. In their first meeting of the season, the Timberwolves bested the Broncos with a score of 18-7 with multiple notable performances from standout players.
Notable performances on the offensive side of the ball included quarterback Kendall Sadberry (Fr.) who threw for 106 yards and a touchdown and ran for 60 yards and another touchdown, Abbey Griffin (Jr.) who had two catches and one touchdown, and Kyndal Smith (Sr.) who led the team with 29 reception yards on four catches.
Standout players on the defensive side of the ball for the Timberwolves included Tessa Vermillion (So.) with four total tackles including three sacks, Francesca Fernandez (So.) with two interceptions including a pick six, and Lainey Crisafulli (So.) with one interception.
Although Chiles lost in the finals to Seminole Ridge, they recorded the best flag football season in program history while making it past regional finals for the first time.
