The Maclay announcement is provided below.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Jablon, beloved Headmaster of Maclay School. Bill faithfully served our community for 45 years—38 of those as Headmaster (1976–2014). A pillar of leadership, vision, and integrity, Bill’s legacy is forever etched into the foundation of our school and in the hearts of all who knew him. Joining Maclay in 1969 as a teacher, Bill quickly rose to lead the school through decades of transformation. Under his steady guidance, Maclay expanded its academic programs, built new facilities, and strengthened its commitment to student excellence and character. He was instrumental in founding the Upper School, championing a college-prep curriculum, and establishing a culture of mentorship and high expectations. His leadership helped Maclay gain accreditation and national recognition. Known for his wisdom, humility, and deep care for others, Bill greeted students by name, mentored faculty, and led with quiet strength. Even in retirement, he remained a trusted advisor and loyal presence on campus. A mass will be held Friday, June 20 at 11am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, followed by a reception at the Robert C. Webster Center at Maclay. All are welcome. We extend our deepest condolences to Bill’s family and loved ones. His passing is a profound loss, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations. Bill Jablon was, and always will be, the heart of Maclay.
