Leon County Commissioners got an update this week on the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships. Apalachee Regional Park is set to host the event January 10.

FLORIDA NEWS

Legislative leaders said Thursday evening they hope to finish a budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year on Friday so it can go before the House and Senate early next week. 

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier on Thursday blamed the Biden administration for a scheme where tax collector employees sold driver’s licenses to immigrants who didn’t take the required test.

NATIONAL NEWS

Washington, DC, will host its largest military parade in over three decades tomorrow to commemorate the US Army’s 250th anniversary. The event, expected to cost $25M to $45M, also coincides with Flag Day (see history) and the 79th birthday of President Donald Trump, who is expected to give an address.

  1. This Fire Services Fee just irritates the hell out of me. Our local tax dollars, our local property taxes, and our local 7.5% sales tax fees (higher than the State 6%) should pay for fire protection.
    Get your act together Tallahassee City Leaders. You cannot weasel, defend, or make excuses your way out of this fee by continually trying to justify it.
    Grow up and budget for the damn Fire Services out of our tax base.
