George Edward Lewis II, 83, died on July 25, 2025, at his home on Lake Jackson in Tallahassee from the progression of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on July 28, 1941. George attended Sealey Elementary School, Elizabeth Cobb Middle School, and Leon High School. He was a 1959 graduate of Leon High School, where he served as Senior Class Vice President. About 100 undocumented immigrants have been deported from an airstrip adjoining the detention center dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz,” and “the cadence” of outgoing flights is increasing, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday.

The United States and European Union announced a trade deal yesterday. The framework sees the US applying a 15% tariff on most EU goods, including cars and pharmaceuticals, and a mutual reduction to 0% tariffs on others, including aircraft and semiconductor equipment. Steel and aluminum will remain tariffed at 50%. Tariffs on some goods—including wine—are still under negotiation.
