After five years, on June 26, 2025, Henry Wilson was found guilty vehicular homicide related to a traffic accident in 2020. Wilson reached speeds of over 90 mph on West Tennessee Street ultimately losing control of his vehicle and resulting in the death of a pedestrian.
A synopsis of the incident by the State Attorney’s Office is provided below:
On March 16, 2020, just before 8 PM, the defendant was driving west on West Tennessee Street. There were two passengers in his vehicle. Surveillance Footage captured the defendant driving over 92 miles per hour as he passed White Drive. The speed limits on that stretch of road are 35 and 45 miles per hour. As he approached Dixie Street, the defendant swerved to avoid colliding into a vehicle in front of him, causing his car to cross all lanes of westbound traffic and hitting the curb. After hitting the curb, his vehicle continued to travel down the sidewalk, ultimately striking a pedestrian who was walking a baby in a stroller. The pedestrian, the baby’s grandmother, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The baby was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he was treated for severe injuries. The baby survived the crash but sustained lifelong disabilities.
Detectives with the Tallahassee Police Department investigated the crash and extracted the Crash Data Records from the defendant’s vehicle. The extraction showed that the defendant reached speeds up to 96 miles an hour in the 5 seconds before the crash.
On June 26, 2025, following a jury trial, the defendant was found guilty as charged of Vehicular Homicide and Reckless Driving Causing Serious Bodily Injury. On August 8, 2025, a sentencing hearing was held. The Court sentenced the defendant to 12 years in Florida State Prison to be followed by 3 years of probation, with special conditions to include no driving a motor vehicle and 120 community service hours to be completed at a trauma center or hospital that regularly receives motor vehicle accident injuries under the supervision of a registered nurse, emergency room physician or emergency medical technician.
He got off to easy. Should be 18 to 20 Years in Prison and 5 Years Probation and 1000 Hours Community Service. WHY did it take FIVE YEARS for this Trial to happen? 1 Year should have been enough time.
