On Aug. 23rd, the Chiles Volleyball team (5-0) played the Beachside Barracudas (3-1) in a rematch of the 2024 regional finals. Like last year, the Timberwolves came out on top in four sets, improving to 5-0 on the season.
Beachside finished their 2024 campaign ranked 2nd in the 5A class Maxprep rankings, behind the state champion Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves got off to a quick start in the first set building a substantial lead due to their powerful offense led by Lindsay Smith and Eva Goodson. Although Beachside found their rhythm on defense later in the set, Chiles held on to take the first set 25-21.
Beachside started the second set off strong but quickly fell behind due to a serving run from Chiles’ Lindsay Smith. The Timberwolves took the second set 25-21.
Late in the third set, Beachside found a serving run of their own forcing a fourth set with a third set score of 25-19.
The Timberwolves closed out the match in the fourth set winning 3-1 with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-20.
Notable performances from Chiles include Eva Goodson (Sr.) with 21 kills and only 4 errors, Lindsay Smith (Sr.) with 12 kills and 6 errors and Natalie Gibson (Sr.) with 25 assists.
