Florida High Volleyball Hangs on to Beat Maclay in Straight Sets

On Wednesday night, the Florida High girls volleyball team hosted the Maclay Marauders.

Florida High got off to a quick start thanks to their explosive hitting on the outside. Maclay could not find an answer defensively as Florida High won the first set 25-10, giving the Seminoles a 1-0 lead.

Maclay started the second set much better than the first, taking the lead with a score of 6-3. As the Marauders started to find a groove, Florida High answered back with a run of their own. After trading points, the Seminoles went on to win the second set 25-17 with a crucial run late in the set.

Maclay began the third set with another strong run, looking to win their first set of the night by going up 7-3. After a service run from Addison Mayernick (Jr.) , Florida High closed the gap to 13-14, still favoring Maclay. After a couple of costly errors on the side of the Marauders, Florida High won the third set 25-22, beating Maclay in straight sets with set scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-22.
