City commissioner and Tallahassee mayoral candidate Jeremy Matlow posted a video on Facebook calling President Trump and Governor DeSantis racists.
The Facebook caption on the video, which was posted after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk said, “Respond with kindness.”
The inflammatory comments by Matlow come as leaders across the U.S. grapple with how to unify the country amid increasing political violence.
Ironically, in his mayoral campaign announcement, Matlow said, “I am uniquely qualified to bring our community together under a common vision and to seek collaboration with all that are willing to make Tallahassee a better place.”

Remember when Trump went on TV and insisted that Haitian immigrants were eating all of the dogs and cats in Springfield, IL? It wasn’t true, but racists ate it up.
Remember when Trump said: “I didn’t know she was black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black and now she wants to be known as black,” You know who thought that was a hilarious statement? Racists.
Remember when Trump went on TV and stated that ‘there were good people on both sides’ of a set of protests where one side wore KKK outfits? Everyone gets one guess on if the KKK members are racist or not.
Remember when Republican governors led the effort to overturn parts of the Civil Rights Act?
And then immediately started closing polling places in minority districts? That’s racist and simply observable fact.
Remember a year ago, when we didn’t have officers not showing their faces or badges throwing brown people into unmarked vans?
I do.
Not every Republican is racist, but every racist votes Republican. It’s just so funny to see people try to deny it. Why not just lean into it? It seems to be working. I mean, it’s not like it’s going to cost you any voters, and you would at least have a shred of intellectual honesty left.
Yes, Trump and Desantis are so racist that they got more Hispanic and Black vote than any republicans have in the last 40 years. Good job Matlow you nailed it.
