  1. Resident, the AV Gas thing is certainly a prime contributing factor, but it’s not the only reason.

There are not enough significant businesses here to generate air travel in a sufficient quantity to justify having more flights/airlines. If we could possibly expand beyond government, education, and universities that fail to retain graduates in the local population, we might be able to improve things. But, any time someone wants to chop down a paper pine tree around here, the patchouli crowd gets upset and throws a fit.

  2. News Maven. Your comment provided great insight. Thanks! I travel a lot, and no one has ever given me a logical answer…most just shrug their shoulders and say “that’s the way it has always been”, and no one ever tries to solve the issue.

  3. Gracie, the only way to be surprised by that is to have an IQ lower than a frog’s bottom. Our airport is a subsidized struggle session where the occasional airline takes advantage of a sweet tax break deal and then leaves. It’s a joke.

  4. It’s surprising to me that Tallahassee international airport doesn’t have direct flights to popular destinations like NY.

  5. Again, there is a monopoly on AvGas at TLH.
Instead of yet another article saying the same thing, what about one comparing fuel prices at various airports around the Southeast?
