With the basketball season nearing its midpoint, Tallahassee Reports is highlighting the top three leading scorers in Leon County, using MaxPreps stats updated through Jan. 6.
Jaden Staten, Godby
Godby Senior Jaden Staten leads the Cougars in points averaging 23.8 a game with a season total of 286. So far this year Staten has dropped a high of 32 points twice against TLAP Sports Academy and Mandarin High School. In the Cougars’ most recent loss against Andrew Jackson, Staten scored 31 points while Godby fell just short with a final score of 72-66. Godby’s next game is a home game against Sandalwood on Jan. 7th.
Gabe Parks, Chiles
Chiles Senior Gabe Parks is the lead scorer for the Timberwolves averaging 23.2 points per game with a total of 278 so far this season. He recorded a season-high 32 points against FAMU DRS at the start of the season. Parks most recently dropped 27 points against FAMU DRS at home on Jan. 5th. Chiles’ next game is an away non-conference matchup against Monroe on Jan. 8th.
Calvin Thomas, Rickards
Rickards Senior Calvin Thomas is averaging 18.3 points a game with a total of 110 points so far this season. Thomas dropped a season high of 26 points against Chiles in a 62-46 win for the Raiders on Nov. 20th. Rickards is set to play a home game against Mainland on Jan. 9th.
