The Leon County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, January 16th, announced the arrest of 54-year-old Flay Rollins in connection with two homicides in Leon County.
According to the LCSO release, at around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, deputies responded to the 150 block of Bethel By The Lake Drive after receiving a report of an adult female found deceased. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim with apparent gunshot wounds and pronounced her deceased at the scene.
During the investigation Rollins was developed as a suspect.
As the investigation progressed, detectives were advised by the U.S. Marshals Taskforce that Rollins had been located and taken into the Leon County Detention Facility following a warrant issued by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office connected to a homicide in Valdosta, Georgia. While in custody Rollins admitted to the Bethel By The Lake homicide and informed detectives that he had committed a second homicide in Leon County.
Information provided by Rollins led detectives to another deceased individual located in the Apalachicola National Forest. The victim, an adult woman, also suffered fatal gunshot wounds. The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the adult female victim located in the Apalachicola National Forest was pregnant at the time of her death.
As a result of LCSO’s investigation, Rollins is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
