After multiple upsets and a great regional final performance, the Chiles girls soccer team earned a spot in the FHSAA 5A State semifinal round against North Fort Meyers on Feb. 27 at Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand, FL. The Timberwolves are 14-3-1 and ranked 12th in the state and 14th in the country by Maxpreps (rankings last updated 2/16/26).
The Timberwolves first upset of the postseason came in the second round of the state tournament against Beachside on Feb. 11th. After beating Beachside 2-0, Chiles advanced to the regional final where they matched up against Ponte Vedra, the top ranked team in the country.
Ponte Vedra was 15-1-1 coming into the match with home field advantage, as they were ranked first in the region. The Timberwolves were hungry for redemption as they lost their first meeting with Ponte Vedra earlier in the season with a final score of 2-0. The match was defined by tough defensive play on both sides, but the deadlock was broken as Chiles’ Charlotte Reynolds fired a long-range shot over the keeper with 26 minutes remaining in the first half. The goal put Chiles ahead 1-0, a lead they held onto to secure the victory.
This is Chiles’ first time back to the state tournament since 2005 with hopes of winning the first state title in program history.
