Rickards Competes at Ellis Elite 16 Track and Field Invitational

On March 7, the Rickards track team had multiple athletes compete at Ellis Elite 16 Invitational in Miramar, FL, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas High School. The Raiders had three athletes medal in multiple individual events, including Jeremy Mango, Davion Crumitie, and Journee Belcher.

Jeremy Mango – 110 Meter Hurdles, 400 Meter Hurdles

Rickards track athlete Jeremy Mango delivered an impressive performance at the Ellis Elite 16 Invitational, earning first place in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 13.92 seconds. The mark not only set a new PR for Mango but also currently stands as the fastest time in Florida for the 2026 season and ranks 18th in the nation. Mango also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing fourth while setting another personal record with a time of 57.46 seconds, showcasing his versatility and continued improvement across multiple hurdle events.

Davion Crumitie – 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash

Rickards track athlete Davion Cumitie also turned in a standout performance at the Ellis Elite 16 Invitational, recording personal records in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Cumitie ran a PR of 10.22 seconds in the 100 meters, a mark that currently ranks second in Florida for the 2026 season behind Cardinal Newman’s Zamarii Sanders (10.08) and fifth in the nation. He followed that with another PR of 20.66 seconds in the 200 meters, which ranks third in Florida and sixth nationally for the 2026 season. Cumitie placed third in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash, highlighting a strong showing against elite competition.

Journee Belcher – 200 Meter Dash

Rickards track athlete Journee Belcher earned a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash at the Ellis Elite 16 Invitational, running a season-best time of 23.95 seconds. The mark improved on her only other 200-meter time of 24.16, which she set on Feb. 14 at the Chiles Relays, showing continued progress early in the 2026 season.

Rickards also had a team of four athletes that placed second in the girls’ 4×100-meter relay with a time of 46.55. On the boys’ side, Rickards placed fourth in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 41.65.
