On March 13th, Godby hosted The Tariq Barfield Invitational Track and Field meet at Godby with multiple Leon County schools competing. Listed below are the results of notable Leon County performances in events including the 100-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash 800-meter dash, 1600-meter dash, long jump, high jump, shotput and discus.
Team Results
Rickards claimed the boys team title with a strong overall performance, finishing first with 94 points. Godby followed closely behind in second place with 89.5 points, while Chiles secured third with 75.5. Leon rounded out the top five with a solid showing of 60 points.
Florida High dominated the girls competition, capturing the team title with an impressive 147 points. Chiles followed in second place with 115, while Rickards earned third with 94 points after a strong all-around effort. Maclay was the last Leon County team to place in the top five placing fourth with 64.5 points.
Boys 110 Meter Hurdles
Godby dominated the boys 110-meter hurdles, claiming the top two spots in the event. Senior Arinthius Stevens led the way with a winning time of 14.45, while teammate Johnny Barber followed with a second-place finish in 15.84. The strong showing highlighted Godby’s strength in the hurdles as the pair controlled the race from the start.
Boys 100 Meter Dash
Rickards’ Christian Randolph was the only Leon County athlete to place in this event, placing third with a time of 11.09.
Boys 200 Meter Dash
Rickards’ Christian Randolph turned in one of the top sprint performances among Tallahassee athletes, finishing second overall in the boys 200-meter dash with a time of 22.13. Randolph led a strong Rickards contingent in the event, continuing the Raiders’ presence near the top of the sprint standings.
Boys 400 Meter Dash
Leon senior Josiah Long delivered a standout performance in the boys 400-meter dash, capturing first place with a time of 49.34. Long held off a competitive field to secure the win and provided Leon with one of its top performances of the meet.
Boys 800 Meter Run
Rickards’ Antwan Hamm claimed the boys 800-meter run title with an impressive time of 1:58.20, narrowly edging Bay’s Nathaniel Wilson by just five hundredths of a second. Chiles also placed an athlete on the podium as Joshua Hicks finished third in 1:59.19, giving the Timberwolves a strong showing in the middle-distance event.
Boys 1600 Meter Run
Maclay’s Gabe Manry led the Tallahassee-area runners in the boys 1600 meters, winning the race in 4:36.69. Godby’s Erick Garcia followed closely behind with a runner-up finish in 4:37.61, while Chiles’ Connor Hill placed third with a time of 4:41.81. The event featured a tight pack of local distance runners competing near the front of the field.
Boys Long Jump
Leon’s Maxie Monroe turned in a strong performance in the boys long jump, placing second overall with a mark of 6.65 meters. Monroe finished just behind Wakulla’s David Whitaker, giving Leon a top finish in the field events.
Boys High Jump
Godby’s Mikkel Butler captured the boys high jump title with a clearance of 1.87 meters. Leon’s Jeremiah Lalanne added another top performance for the Lions by finishing second with a mark of 1.77 meters, while Lincoln’s Chase Garye also cleared 1.77 meters to take third place, rounding out a strong showing from Tallahassee athletes.
Boys Discus
Rickards sophomore Tyson Jones led the field in the boys discus, winning the event with a throw of 42.98 meters. Maclay followed closely with a pair of podium finishes as Dion Rogers placed second at 41.87 meters and teammate Quinton Douglas finished third with a throw of 38.94 meters.
Boys Shot Put
Florida High’s Micah Deem dominated the boys shot put, winning the event with a throw of 16.58 meters. Chiles’ Mykall Lundy secured second place with a mark of 15.58 meters, while Maclay’s Quinton Douglas rounded out the top three with a throw of 14.42 meters.
Girls 100 Meter Hurdles
Chiles’ Lainey Crisafulli placed first with a time of 15.32 whiles Rickards’ Jordaya Zackery placed second with a time of 16.13
Girls 100 Meter Dash
Florida High’s Aniya Williams just edged Dothan senior Tania Myers by .07 seconds, claiming first place with a time of 12.58. Rickards’ Zaniya Johnson placed third with a time of 12.66.
Girls 200 Meter Dash
Maclay’s Sarah Izuegbu claimed the girls 200-meter dash title with a time of 25.68, narrowly edging Rickards’ Jordaya Zackery, who finished second in 25.76. Florida High’s Aniya Williams also reached the podium, placing third with a time of 25.87 to complete a strong showing for Tallahassee-area sprinters.
Girls 400 Meter Dash
Rickards’ Sacori Gardner delivered a standout performance in the girls 400 meters, winning the event with a time of 58.09. Gardner’s run placed her well ahead of the field and highlighted the Raiders’ strength in the sprint events.
Girls 800 Meter Run
Chiles completely controlled the girls 800-meter run, sweeping the top three positions. Chloe Elizabeth Molen won the race in 2:19.82, followed closely by teammate Savannah Stanley in 2:21.18. Kaia Ables completed the sweep with a third-place finish in 2:28.43, giving the Timberwolves a dominant performance in the middle-distance event.
Girls 1600 Meter Run
Chiles’ Madeline Brockmeier led the girls 1600 meters from the front, winning the event with a time of 5:28.73. Leon’s Tatum Hendon followed with a strong second-place finish in 5:32.39, while Maclay’s Caroline Couch placed third in 5:33.97 in a tightly contested race among Tallahassee distance runners.
Girls Long Jump
Florida High dominated the girls long jump with a one-two finish. Makiyah McHenry captured first place with a jump of 5.26 meters, while teammate Ava Baldwin followed in second with a mark of 5.11 meters. Chiles’ Kerrington Neely rounded out the podium with a third-place jump of 5.02 meters.
Girls High Jump
Maclay’s Priscilla Izuegbu won the girls high jump with a clearance of 1.52 meters. Chiles’ Kaia Ables secured third place in the event by clearing 1.42 meters, adding another strong performance to her meet.
Girls Discus
Florida High’s Peyton Demps claimed the girls discus title with a throw of 31.39 meters. Rickards’ Ny’Aja Thomas placed third with a mark of 25.09 meters, giving Tallahassee-area athletes two spots on the podium.
