The City of Tallahassee released construction data for May 2015. The numbers show that single-family construction continues to slow.
The chart below shows that the 12 month total number of permits fell for the second month in a row. The last time this happened was in May and June of 2014.
Since April 2015 the 12-month number of single family construction permits has fallen from 239 to 224 in May 2015.
The second chart below shows that the 12 month total value of single-family construction permits also fell for the second month in a row.
Since April 2015 the 12-month value of single family construction permits has fallen from $45.9 million to 42.8 million in May 2015.
Overall the charts indicate that since mid to late 2013 when the annual number of permits surpassed 200 and the value of permits surpassed $45 million, the pace of growth in single family construction has flattened out.
Leon County is set to release May 2015 data later this month and national and regional data will be released on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Tallahassee Reports will have a follow-up report.
