Local Business, Perfect Plants Nursery, Makes “Fastest Growing” List

Inc. Magazine has revealed their “Inc. 5000” list and has named Perfect Plants Nursery, of Monticello, Florida, number 150 on the list of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.

Perfect Plants Nursery has had a three-year revenue growth of 2,789 percent.

The prestigious list was started in 1982 by Inc. Media and is released annually. According to Yahoo Finance, Inc. Media analyzes company data to identify which privately held businesses, in the United States, are the fastest growing. The 2021 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2016 and 2019.

To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2016. They must be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent as of December 31, 2019. The minimum revenue required for 2016 is $100,000; the minimum for 2019 is $2 million.

Making the 5000 list gives the company global recognition and allows for the owners of the best businesses an opportunity to engage with peers of the same caliber. It also gives their business credibility and helps to driver sales and recruit more and better talent.

Perfect Plants Nursery is a family-owned and operated online mail-order plant nursery. Their story began over 40 years ago, when the land for the nursery was purchased by the father of the nursery’s owner, Alex Kantor. As the nursery grew, so did the Kantor family and now their families are doing the same.

What began as a few single beds, growing shrubs and trees for wholesale, now spans more than 60 acres. The nursery supplies landscapers and garden centers all over the southeast, and since 2013 the nursery has helped individual consumers through their online operations. The online plant retailer now ships thousands of trees and plants around the country.
