The Tallahassee Police is investigating three armed robberies that took place on the southside Tuesday night. TPD believes the robberies are connected. TPD responded to three separate incidents at businesses all within about an hour of each other.
According incident reports the first call came in at 8:36 p.m. in the 2100 Block of South Monroe. The second call at a business in the 2500 Block of North Monroe at 9:29 p.m. Adn the third and final call came in the 500 Block of West Brevard at 9:41 p.m..
TPD reports that someone in custody related to the incidents.
The state fire marshal is investigating a fire that sparked yesterday at Killearn Country Club. TFD was called just after 1:30 a.m. and firefighters saw heavy smoke and fire showing. No one was inside and no injuries have been reported. Killearn Country Club recently changed ownership to David Cummings who is making a multi-million dollar investment.

The newly selected Florida House Speaker Paul Renner spoke yesterday saying that he is excited to get to business and promote a conservative agenda. Renner will oversee the first house supermajority since 2014-2016 and the first supermajority in both chambers since 2010-2012. Renner, during his comments, took shots deriding “drag queen story time” and “ESG scores.”
Andrew Warren, the attorney who claimed he would not prosecute violators of Florida’s 15-week abortion ban, pushed back against an effort that would have kept Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis from testifying in a trial scheduled to start next week. Warren has sued in federal court saying his First Amendment rights have been violated.
In the Florida Legislature, Senate Democrats have re-selected State Sen. Lauren Book as their caucus leader and the Legislative Black Caucus selected State Rep. Dianne Hart as chair.
The Florida Legislature also set the dates for the upcoming special session with a focus on boosting Florida’s property insurance industry. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also said property tax cuts could also be on the docket. Incoming House Speaker Paul Renner said he is hoping to entice the private market to come do business in Florida and pass systemic reforms shoring up the existing market. He did note, however, that insurance premiums are still unlikely to go down.

Florida State volleyball heads into the final week of the regular season with a matchup against the Miami Hurricanes that will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra at 3:00 p.m. today. The Noles snapped a three-match losing streak to the Canes last time they met. FSU is currently fifth in the ACC and Miami is fourth.
Let’s just say all three were on the south side, even though they weren’t. It makes for a better story that way…
I didn’t get a Tallahassee Democrat this morning because of Thanksgiving. Steve should have taken the day off too.
