Gov. Ron DeSantis proposed around $21.6 million to safeguard the integrity of future elections as a part of his recommended $114.4 billion “Focus on Florida’s Future” budget for fiscal year 2024-2025. The governor’s office said the $21.6 million will safeguard the integrity of future elections and shield the state from cyber threats, fraud and other irregularities.
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said her office is investigating potential “anticompetitive conduct” of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee after it excluded Florida State football from the playoff. In a press release, Moody’s office slammed the committee’s “secretive selection process.” The investigation began with a Civil Investigate Demand from Moody’s Antitrust Division.
A new piece of Florida legislation would implement new restrictions on political advertisements and communications that utilize artificial intelligence. It covers political ads, electioneering communications or “other miscellaneous advertisement of a political nature” that are created with AI.
