The Tallahassee Reports Daily Briefs: Friday, July 26, 2024

LOCAL NEWS

It was a sad day for Tallahassee, but a political opportunity for Jack Porter. Hours after Tallahassee received the devastating news about JetBlue pulling out of the Capital City, City Commissioner Jack Porter wasted no time in taking the opportunity to further divide the community and score cheap political points.

JetBlue is pausing or cutting service on two dozen routes and pulling seven cities off its route map entirely as part of its latest network shakeup. The New York-based carrier, which has its sights set on returning to profitability, announced a slew of changes Wednesday.

A man is behind bars for his connection to a shooting that left one person hurt earlier this month, according to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

In the wake of President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, Florida Women Leaders are rallying to support her bid for President.

The US economy grew at an annualized rate of 2.8% in the second quarter of 2024, according to preliminary data yesterday. 1. @Mr. Lyle
You seem to have a very myoptic view of issues and a never-ending infatuation with the terms “Jackboot Porter and Pizza Boy.”

My recent comments, if you read them carefully, are simply directed towards how I’ve observed that TR appears to be very one-sided and perhaps unfair to certain commissioners and candidates. I think we get enough of that from The Democrat. TR could be a better publication if it stuck to the facts and let the readers decide which way to lean on issues and reports.

Believe me, I’m not a “fan” of any of our local, state or federal politicians be them Democrat or Republican, black or white, man or woman or whatever they think they are at the moment. I’m a registered Independent. I do my own thinking, and don’t have to be a member of a party and be told what to believe or who to vote for. I hold my nose when voting and chose the candidate I think will do the least damage to me and my family, our city and county, the state and our country. That’s what I’m about. How about you?

  2. @ Common-nonsense… as usual, no specifics, just glossing generalities and opinion presented as support for a flawed assertion. It’s only “fair reporting” when your side is protected and fawned over… got it.

Pizza Boy Matlow and Jackboot Porter are disrupters. They show no intention of working with the body to address issues or resolve challenges. They are political hacks and ideological zealots focused on gaining the majority in order to turn our city into another Pro-Hamas Progressive cesspool like LA, San Fran, NY, Chitcago, et al…

  3. @Steve
Steve says, “Please direct me to the articles that “fawn” over Daily, Richardson and Cox. Steve S.”

Any TR article that mentions Dailey, Richardson or Cox rarely highlights any criticism or references any bad, harmful 3-2 decisions they’ve made. In the opinion of TR, they always appear to be “perfect” and consistently make the best decisions for the residents of Tallahassee. I consider that type of reporting to be a form of “fawning” over select people who appear to be “friends of Steve.” Sorry for my choice of the word fawn. Your “sin” is one of omission.

If TR doesn’t think decisions by the “Three Amigos” such as not supporting a pay increase for the Firefighters, doing nothing about the sewage spills throughout the city, abruptly ending meetings along with cutting off speakers doesn’t merit some sort of critical comment, TR is not being very fair in it’s reporting. I guess it’s easier to continue to just jump on Porter and Matlow and continue to beat that “super liberal criticism drum.” After all, any criticism of the “Three” might result in them pulling some of their campaign funds from TR. Can’t let that happen, can we?

  4. @ Beppo… It appears to be an opinion piece. Those are not usually open to comment and debate… because it’s an “opinion piece” offered by the writer… as, you know… just an opinion.

One I happen to agree with by the way. In my opinion, Jackboot Porter’s position is continued proof that neither she nor Pizza Boy and Do(n)t have any intention of working together as a collective (aka: the Board) to improve our city and do the people’s will… but rather exposes their intent to try and garner the majority and forward their own ideological agenda.

But, you know… that’s just my opinion.

  5. @David RE: Porter article comment section. It would appear Steve supports freedom of speech unless you can speak on his opinion.

  6. @ Proud Rural Redneck… 100% spot-on. The only way JetBlue was gonna survive at TLH was to match pricing with Silver, or even dabble below theirs for a bit… but they didn’t.

It’s about an hour and 1/2 flight… and thanks to Bidenomics and Kamalanomics… the cheaper fight will win out, no matter the aircraft type.

  7. @ Lieutenant… make sure you collect your nickel for that ridiculous post. You need to lay off the meth and CNN, sport… it’s clearly causing you dain bramage.

Jackboot Porter, Pizza Boy Matlow, and Do(n)t Johnson couldn’t be any farther from conservatism than Knee Pads Harris, you know, the Failed Border Czar and descendent of slave owners.

  8. You’re missing the big picture with Jet Blue. The odds are greater that they will shutdown all operations following the failed merger with Spirit Airlines. As for any route, the plane needs to be full a lot more times than it isn’t. As for Porter, she couldn’t tell you the difference between an Airbus 320 and a Boeing 757. Her area of expertise is spreading socialism.

  9. Hey steve, what happened to the Comment section on the “Jack Porter Plays Politics Amid JetBlue Exit” article? It had one Comment and I made a Post and went to up load it and kept getting the “Try Again” link and then it was gone.

  10. It’s interesting how Steve simply fawns over Dailey, Richardson and Cox. However, he seems to go out of his way to publish wild, unending criticisms of Porter and Matlow. Could it be that the “Three Amigos” pay for ads in TR? You decide.

What ever happened to real journalism that would present factual information for BOTH sides of an issue or analysis? Then, the readers decided which way they wanted to lean? Now, all we seem to get is the personal opinions and beliefs of the Publisher (see recent piece about Porter above). That’s very unfortunate. The “death” of journalism continues.

  11. Ha! This is why conservatives are starting to like Jack Porter more lately. City Hall mismanagement will probably lead the state government to take over the airport and they should!

  12. “This news is really unfortunate— another step backwards under this majority’s agenda…” ~ Jackboot Porter on the JetBlue announcement.

Further proof that Jackboot Porter – along with Pizza Boy and Do(n)t – will transform our fair city into a progressive cesspool like San Fransisco, LA, New Youk, Chicago, et al…

We need to keep Commissioner Richardson and vote out Porter and Matlow if we are to truly move our city forward and improve our communities.

Ignore the Progressive Propaganda… Vote with your brains, not your emotions.
