Breaking News: A review of campaign finance records reveals that the political action committee (PAC) started by City Commissioner Jeremy Matlow to support the re-election of City Commissioner Jack Porter and city commission candidate Dot Inman-Johnson received $25,000 on July 25, 2024, from the Green Advocacy Project, a left-wing progressive group located in California.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, Chief Lawrence E. Revell and the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) celebrated its second class of recruits in 2024, welcoming 13 new officers.

Florida State University’s faculty union joined other schools in a federal lawsuit on Wednesday. The unions argue a recent Florida law gives university presidents too much power in personnel matters.

Proponents of ballot initiatives that would legalize recreational marijuana and enshrine abortion rights in the Florida constitution have raised millions. The two initiatives are among six that will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot and will require a 60% vote to earn a place in the state’s constitution.

More than 762,000 people had voted as of Wednesday morning in the Aug. 20 primary elections, with most casting ballots by mail.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell has defeated U.S. Rep. Cori Bush – a member of the progressive congressional group known as the “Squad,” – in a Democratic primary in St. Louis, marking the second time this year that one of the party’s incumbents has been ousted in an expensive contest that reflected deep divisions over the war in Gaza.

Disney posted its first-ever streaming profit yesterday, with divisions including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ producing $47M in operating income in Q3 this year, compared to a loss of $512M in the same period last year.
