The Tallahassee Quarterback Club recently announced their high school football “Player of the Week” awards for the week ending August 30 (Week 2).
Offensive Player
The Offensive Player of the Week was Maclay Quarterback George Grant (Sr.). Grant completed 14 passes in 15 attempts for 322 yards with 4 passing touchdowns and added one rushing touchdown. Grant led Maclay to a 42-17 win over Brookwood while posting an impressive QB rating of 171.5
Defensive Player
The Defensive Player of the Week was given to Lincoln middle linebacker Chauncey Warren (Sr.). Warren was selected based on his performance against Madison County where the Lincoln defense held their opponents to only 7 points in a 29-7 victory.
Impact Player
The Impact Player of the Week was awarded to Rickards wide receiver Davion Crumitie (So.). Crumitie’s efforts helped the Raiders come away with a victory against Eastside with the score of 30-23.
Offensive Lineman of the Week
The offensive Lineman of the Week award goes to Godby’s Landon Hester (So.). Hester recorded 6 pancake blocks and helped the offense record 104 total rushing yards and 318 total passing yards. Hesters performance helped the Cougars post a 59-7 win over the Leon Lions.
The Tallahassee Quarterback Club was formed in 1949 to support local high school and college football. The club and its members, then as today, have a passion for the game of football while recognizing and supporting good sportsmanship. The club meets during the football season and caps the year with its annual Jamboree Awards Dinner.
