Chiles Leads Volleyball Rankings, Leon Jumps to Second

The latest MaxPreps high school volleyball rankings are out. The table pictured below is a ranking of the eleven Leon County schools that have indoor volleyball teams based on current record, overall rating and strength of schedule as shown in MaxPreps. The stats used in this edition of high school volleyball rankings were updated on MaxPreps through 10/6/2024.

Chiles

Chiles leads the rankings following games against Lincoln and Maclay during the week ending 10/6. They beat Lincoln in straight sets and beat Maclay 3-1. With the end of the regular season approaching, the Timberwolves had plans to play Middleburg on 10/8 but was cancelled due to Hurricane Milton. 

Leon

Leon jumps FSUHS in this week’s Tallahassee rankings coming back from the Bishop Moore tournament where they played three teams in a “best of 3” format rather than 5. They went 1-2 beating Harmony 2-0 and losing to Lake Howell and New Smyrna Beach 0-2 and 1-2 respectively. Leon defeated FSUHS (25-20, 25-19, 27-25) on 10/8.

FSUHS

Although Florida High fell back to third in the Tallahassee rankings this week, they had a great showing going 2-1 for the week beating Liberty County and Aucilla Christian both 3-1. They did lose to Navarre on 10/2 but not without stretching the match to five sets, losing the 5th set 15-13.

  1. Steve keeps saying we need to cover high school sports, but it seems to be focused on volleyball. And why just sports? Why not art, academic, or other competitions and excellence?
