On Nov. 15, Alex Parker (Jr.) (pictured on the left) competed in the two-day 3A FHSAA state tournament at the Mission Inn Resort located in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fl. This year Parker was the only golfer from Leon County to qualify for the boy’s state tournament as an individual.
Parker started the tournament off with a round of 78 (+6) on the first day. He went +4 through the first 3 holes but managed to save his round with 9 pars and 2 birdies.
Parker started off much better the second round, claiming a birdie on the first hole. He finished the second round with a slightly better score of 77 (+5). Parker finished his first state tournament with a total stroke count of 155 (+11) placing T30th out of 96 golfers.
Parker told TR the conditions at the Mission Inn Resort were challenging, but he thought he played well.
With the end of the state tournament, Parker’s season came to a close. When asked about his season, Parker said, “I had a really good season, accomplished two goals winning the Big Bend Championship and the City Championship.”
