With the season ending last week, there are 6 different teams participating in the 5A district tournament for boys and girls. Leon, Chiles and Lincoln all have a boys and girls team competing in the upcoming tournaments.
Boys
Leon (5-9-1) played the only match of the first round of the District tournament resulting in the other 3 teams receiving byes. The 4th seeded Lions played against the 5th seeded Mosley Dolphins (10-10-1) on Jan. 26 resulting in a final score of 5-0 with Leon advancing to the semi-finals. They are set to play the top seeded Arnold Marlins (12-1-4) on Jan. 28.
With both teams coming off of a bye in the quarter-finals, Lincoln (5-9-3) and Chiles (8-2-5) will play each other on Jan. 28 in the semi finals as the 3rd and 2nd seed, respectively. These two teams met up twice in the regular season ending in a draw during the first matchup and a 1-0 win for the Timberwolves in the second.
Girls
In the 5A District 2 girls bracket, Lincoln (3-10-3) is the only Leon County team who has a match in the quarterfinals with Leon and Chiles both receiving byes.
The 4th seeded Lincoln Trojans played the 5th seeded Arnold on Jan. 27 and lost 7-6 in a shoot-out. The score was tied 0-0 after two over time periods.
Arnold will face the top seeded team in the Chiles Timberwolves (12-2) on Jan. 28 in the district semi-finals.
Leon (7-6-3) will play Mosley (14-2-2) in the semi-finals on Jan. 28 as the 3rd and 2nd seed, respectively. The Lions will be looking for redemption as they played Mosley in the last game of the regular season on Jan. 16 and lost with a final score of 3-1.
