On Sep. 20th, St. John Paul II (JPII) hosted the Panther invite high school cross country meet that included 28 schools including 17 from Leon County.
Boys
The Chiles boys cross country team placed first having six runners place in the top 10 out of a field of 135. The Timberwolves had a total run time of 1:24:21.00 with an average run time of 16:52.20. Following Chiles in second place, the Maclay Marauders had four runners place in the top 10 while having a total run time of 1:28:08.90 and an average run time of 17:37.78. Claiming third place, Leon had a total run time of 1:35:33.30 and an average run time of 19:06.66.
Notable individual performances include Chiles’ Joshua Hicks (Sr.) placing first with a time of 15:55.80, Chiles’ Jonathan Kiros (Jr.) finishing second with a time of 16:44.00, Maclay’s David Barton (Jr.) taking third with a time of 16:49.80, Chiles’ Jackson Beener (Sr.) placing fourth with a time of 17:04.30, and Chiles’ Connor Hill (Sr.) rounding out the top five with a time of 17:13.10.
Girls
The Chile girls cross country team placed first as a team while placing 7 of their runners in the top 10. The Timberwolves ran a team total of 1:40:90.00 with a average run time of 20:00.18. Maclay came in second with a total run time of 2:03:30.80 and an average run time of 24:42.16 followed by Leon in third place with a total run time of 2:03:15.90 and an average run time of 24:39.18.
Notable individual performances include Chiles’ Kaia Ables (Jr.) placing first with a time of 19:28.70, Chiles’ Emma-Claire Tannenbaum (Fr.) finishing second with a time of 19:36.80, Chiles’ Charlotte Sikes (Fr.) taking third with a time of 20:05.30, Chiles’ Maddy Morris (Sr.) placing fourth with a time of 20:24.70, and Chiles’ Chloe Molen (So.) placing fifth with a time of 20:25.40.
