Transportation Board Nixes Median Proposal for North Monroe

The Capital Regional Transportation Planning Agency (CRTPA) met on Monday and the issue drawing the most attention was the proposal to place a median on North Monroe between 7th Avenue and Tharpe Street.

CRTPA board members heard a presentation form a transportation consultant and the opinions of business owners affected by the construction of a new median. All of the speakers opposed the addition of a new median, citing concerns about its affect on the ability of their customers to get to their stores.

The transportation consultant presented three options to the board. All three options included the construction of a median. However, Commissioner John Dailey said he preferred an option with no median. County Commissioner Desloge offered support for a no median option and the board settled on other changes designed to improve safety.
