Memorial Service for Carolyn Pippenger, Local Business Owner and Community Leader, Scheduled for Saturday

Carolyn Pippenger, owner of SignPrinters and an active member of the local community, passed away on April 15, 2016.

Along with her husband Alan, she ran SignPrinters for 31 years. The business, located on Max Drive on the west side of town, met the needs of small businesses and local governments across the Big Bend region and was the destination for many local politicians and political candidates during campaign season.

Before becoming the owner of SignPrinters, she was a financial counselor at Florida State University and an assistant vice-president at the Barnett Bank of Tallahassee.

She was an active member of the Network of Entrepreneurs and Business Advocates (NEBA) for eleven years and served as the group’s Secretary and Treasurer.

NEBA issued a statement, that in part, read:

“All who knew Carolyn remember her bright smile, sparkling eyes, and unfailing optimism.  She was the light of her husband’s life and a true friend who lit up every room she walked into.  Our deepest sympathies go to her husband Alan, sister Charlene, and the extended family & friends who are touched by her loss.”

She also participated in the Tallahassee Chamber Leads Group program and was a member of the Tips of Tallahassee.

One of the most powerful tributes was written by Carolyn’s nephew, Christopher:

“I just want to take a moment to thank her. Carolyn Pippenger, along with my uncle Alan Pippenger, opened up their home and offered me a job working for them when I needed it. They are the greatest influence to me on how to be an uncle to my nieces and nephews. They never forgot a birthday, Christmas or any major event like weddings and graduations. I am forever blessed to have been able to have her as my aunt and pray for my mom and uncle as they prepare for a life without their sister and wife.”

A memorial service will be held this Saturday at Thomasville Road Baptist Church in the fellowship hall at 10:30 am.

  2. Carolyn was one of the finest people I have had the privilege of knowing in Tallahassee. My condolences to Alan and the family, but I rejoice in knowing of the reunion which awaits. God’s grace and mercy to you all.

  3. What a beautiful tribute to my beautiful friend Carolyn. We lost touch with each other for a few years but back in the 80’s we became very close friends and spent a lot of time together…I feel sad that we did not rekindle our relationship when I moved back in 2010 but everything written about her is so very true and I will truly miss her.
