Tallahassee Job Growth Rate Improves Over Last 12 Months, Surpasses State Average

Based on information provided by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the growth in Tallahassee jobs is performing above the national and state averages over the last 12 months.

The table below compares the growth rate in jobs for the 22 Metropolitan Statistical Areas in Florida. The table also includes the growth in jobs for the state of Florida and the United States.

The information shows that the Tallahassee MSA added 6,302 jobs over the last 12 months for a growth rate of 3.5%.

This ranks 12th when compared to the other 22 MSA’s. This ranking comes in above Pensacola (3.3%), Fort Walton (3.0%), and Panama City (2.4%). Gainesville reported a 4.1% growth in jobs.

Tallahassee’s growth in jobs is higher than the 3.2% rate for Florida and the 1.0% rate reported for the United States. Florida added 301,000 jobs during the last 12 months.

Sebring led Florida with a 6.7% growth in jobs followed by Orlando. Orlando added 55,500 jobs over the last 12 months for a growth rate of 4.7%.

Homosassa Springs and Naples were the only MSA’s that reported growth rates less than 1% for the previous 12 months.
