LCSO Report on Gillum’s Emails Delivered to State Attorney

Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LSCO) Chief of Staff David Folsom announced Wednesday afternoon the LSCO investigative report on Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum is now in the hands of State Attorney Jack Campbell.

Campbell confirmed to Tallahassee Reports he had received the report but said,  “I’m not going to comment about what comes from here because it is a pending criminal investigation. It is multiple pages and I have not begun to read it yet.”

Folsom said “The ball is totally in (Campbell’s) court now. The case is open until he closes it.”

On February 23, Tallahassee Reports broke the story that Gillum had allegedly spent approximately $5,000 in city funds to purchase software from democrat campaign vendor, NGP VAN. That software was allegedly used to generate campaign email for Gillum in which he mixed “Office of the Mayor” letterhead with his campaign correspondence.

Gillum later acknowledge the purchase and use of the email was a “mistake” and offered to repay the money for the software.

In early March Tallahassee Reports broke the news that an investigation into Gillum’s actions was launched by the LCSO following Campbell’s receipt of a complaint letter regarding Gillum’s alleged actions from a retired Jefferson County law enforcement officer, Paul Henry.

  1. Need to check out City of Tallahassee Report #0820 for an employee who was forced to resign for doing the same thing gillum did.

  2. If that interests you don’t forget Sheriff McNeil expected to be head of FDLE and probably expects Gillum to pay him back

    1. Good point about checking to see who Jack Campbell supports for Governor, I should have researched that. From the tone of your comment, I take it that Campbell supports Gillum? If so, I guess that sinks much chance of an “independent” investigation. However, why give an investigation over to someone who politically supports the subject of the investigation? Sounds similar to how Washington conducts it’s “investigations”.

As a side note, I’ve never been on Facebook, nor Twitter, nor Instagram, nor any other “social media” sites. Digitally speaking, I pretty much don’t exist.

  3. Very good news to hear that the investigation is out of the hands of any City of Tallahassee or Leon County agency, and is now being investigated at a state attorney level. I wouldn’t trust any local agency or entity to do an impartial or independent investigation, due to pressure from Gillum and/or locally powerful officials. It’s long past due that Gillum and Tallahassee city government officials are being investigated by state and federal agencies.

    1. I disagree Mike. I have faith in our new Sheriff and his command. The people at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office may not be perfect, but many are ethical and integrity driven. I trust the reports filed were done with honesty and professionalism as I would expect no less from my sheriff or his people. The acts of a few cannot dictate the whole. Let’s wait and see how this plays out before we rush to a judgment on all parties that have been involved. May justice be done.

  4. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.

Substitute “crook” for “duck” and you’ve got it.

  5. gillum’s e-mails are small potatoes. This is about buying personal property for the use of gillum, by gillum, using taxpayers $$$. There is a Recreation Department employee who was fired several years ago and he was paying it back, as he went, and was still fired. gillum only paid it back after he was caught. Doesn’t matter. gillum should have already been fired. This guy is slimy. If he gets off, the Recreation Dept. employee, I refer to, should file for back pay and damages. As an aside, did he pay also, the sales tax he did not pay by using city $$$ since they are tax exempt?

    1. He already has a problem. What he did is illegal and others have been fired for doing the same thing. Please see my comments.
