Jackie Pons Case Closed, No Charges Filed

Jackie Pons Case Closed, No Charges Filed

Below is statement from FDLE:

In April 2014, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Office of Executive Investigations (OEI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) initiated a joint investigation
to investigate allegations that Leon County Schools (LCS) Superintendent Jackie Pons was steering construction contracts to campaign donors and disregarding proper procurement
procedures outlined by state statutes.

On May 30, 2018, OEI Inspector Jonathon Feltgen was notified by FBI Supervisory Senior Resident Agent (SSRA) Scott Ward of the Tallahassee Resident Agency that Supervisory
Assistant United States Attorney Jason Coody, Northern District of Florida, declined to prosecute former Superintendent Pons with criminal charges for matters related to this investigation. Further, SSRA Ward advised that the FBI was closing its investigation. The FDLE agreed to provide the FBI with investigative and analytical support throughout its investigation. As a result of the FBI closing its investigation, the FDLE considers this matter to be closed and will take no further action at this time.

  1. Oh please. The FBI rarely completely clears people and only when they have found no evidence of any wrongdoing. Do some research if you’re not aware of that. This was pure and simple a case of someone framing someone else In order to get his job and costing the district $600,000 in the process. And now we have a superintendent who has proven he is a liar and will do anything in order to get what he wants.

  2. The FBI did not say he was innocent, just that they “declined to prosecute”. Mr. Pons may have made a deal with the FBI. This is not the only FBI investigation in Tallahassee.

  3. It doesn’t matter what you think of the FBI, if the source material for the charges is tainted so are the investigation and charges. It’s called the fruit of the poisonous tree. If the tree is poisoned so are the fruit.

  4. Let’s keep this in perspective, this is the same FBI who declared that Hillary was not a criminal either. Just because they decided to not charge him, does not equal him being absolved of any wrong doing. Either they can’t prove anything or are politically motivated not to do so. With the recent actions of the FBI, do you all actually still have faith in them?

  5. The next step is an immediate suspension and investigation into Rocky Hanna. It appears Mr. Hanna violated the code of professional ethics of educators and state regulations when he purposely mislead state and federal authorities. Hanna cost the district over $600,000 on the investigation that concluded Hanna had no knowledge of any wrongdoing and he admitted he wrote the false and misleading summaries in each section of the notebook yet he set in motion an investigation that caused harm to several people in our community. It is clear that the notebook was put together to cause direct harm to an individual.

When will the school board hold Mr. Hanna accountable?
