Football
This weekend (2/1-2/3) will be the last weekend before national signing day on Wednesday, February 6. FSU will be hosting several recruits including QB John Rhys Plumlee.
Last weekend (1/25-1/27) was a very busy weekend for Willie Taggart and the staff as they hosted 11 recruits. At the end of it FSU picked up a transfer from Northern Illinois, Ryan Roberts and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald. Fifteen commitments have already enrolled or signed, while 5 commitments still need to make it official on Wednesday. Those players are S Nick Cross, S Brendan Gant, CB Travis Jay, DL Quashon Fuller and K Ryan Fitzgerald.
Three uncommitted offensive lineman, Darius Washington, Ira Henry and Kamaar Ball, will make up their minds on signing day. The Seminoles look to be the leaders in the clubhouse for WR/RB Alante Brown and QB Lance LeGendre. Graduate transfer OL RJ Proctor from Virginia is still in play for FSU as well.
It was announced over the weekend that the spring game will be held April Saturday, April 6.
Men’s basketball
The Seminoles concluded a perfect week with a 78-66 route over Miami in Coral Gables. MJ Walker had a breakout performance with 22 points going 6/7 from 3-point land. This is a good sign for FSU as he was only shooting 18% from distance in ACC play going into the game. Mfiondu Kabengele continued his recent great play scoring 17 points off the bench.
The Seminoles have the week off to get ready to host the Georgia Tech yellow jackets. The ‘Noles are now 15-5 overall and 3-4 in the ACC.
Women’s basketball
The lady ‘Noles bounced back from a shellacking from the Louisville Cardinals by claiming a 56-54 victory at Virginia Tech. Nausia Woolfolk scored a career-high 27 points versus the Hokies.
The 24th ranked Seminoles faced rival Miami last night and came out with a 62-58 victory. Kiah Gillespie was the star of the night finishing with 20 points. The next game for the garnet and gold will be Super Bowl Sunday versus Wake Forest at the Tucker Center. FSU is now 18-3 overall and 6-2 in the ACC.
Men’s and women’s tennis
Both teams went 1-1 in the ITA Kickoff over the weekend. Next up for the men is a match with the Florida Gators on Saturday. As for the women they have the weekend off and will face Florida Gulf Coast next weekend.

Men’s basketball
The Rattlers edged out Coppin State 72-70 over the weekend. The orange and green continued their winning ways on Monday night getting a road victory at Morgan State.
FAMU is now 8-14 overall and 5-2 in the conference. Justin Ravenel is averaging a whopping 19.4 points per game in MEAC play. The next game is Saturday in the Lawson Center versus North Carolina A&T.
Women’s basketball
The lady Rattlers did not fair as well as the men’s team as they dropped both of their games this past week versus Coppin State and Morgan State. FAMU is now just 1-6 in the MEAC and 3-16 overall. The ladies play North Carolina A&T on Saturday.
