City Commission Meeting Coming to Gilchrist Elementary

City Commission Meeting Coming to Gilchrist Elementary

For those who live in northeast Tallahassee and believe it is too difficult to travel downtown to a city commission meeting to voice concerns about an issue, it appears that city officials are going to make it easier for you – for at least one meeting.

City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox posted on her Facebook that the March 27th City Commission meeting will be held at Gilchrist Elementary School located at 1301 Timberlane Rd.

Gilchrist Elementary, 1301 Timberlane Road.

In her Facebook post, Williams-Cox wrote, “Please join us…we want to hear from you!”

The decision to have a meeting in the northeast is consistent with the desire of the recently elected city commissioners to provide more opportunities to engage with citizens.

Recent town halls on the location of a new police headquarters had good turnout and impacted the selection process.

A number of issues specific to the northeast have been in the news lately and are ripe for comment by residents at the meeting. These include the Killearn golf course redevelopment, the Northeast Gateway, development projects pushing up against neighborhoods and of course, traffic.

City Commission meetings at city hall start at 4:00 P.M. No word yet on the agenda or if the meeting time will be different for the northeast meeting.

Check back for updates.
