Officials Give City Commission a Public Safety Update, COVID-19 Plan

At the March 11 City Commission meeting, Police Chief Lawrence Revell gave a public safety update with information on changes in the police department, new security cameras, and COVID-19 plans.

Revell said the police department is moving forward with the Citizens Youth Advisory Board and the officer wellness program. He said the department has also been focused on educating the public on pedestrian safety.

Revell also mentioned new security cameras in the Bond area. He said there are seven locations with five more to be added in Bond as well as seven locations in Greater Frenchtown.

Additionally, Fire Department Division Chief Michael Hadden discussed the department’s plan for handling calls for potential COVID-19 cases in Tallahassee.

“We have a tiered dispatch where, as the call takers get information, they’ll ask certain questions that will make triggers as far as identifying a potential patient,” Hadden said. “Once they identify a potential patient, they’ll relay that information to the troops out in the field. When they do that, we’re going to have a coordinated response.”

Hadden said once responders arrive, they will put on personal protective equipment and give the patient a mask. Responders will then determine whether the patient should be transported to the emergency room or self-quarantine at home.

Mayor John Dailey asked if the City is prepared to set up a quarantine facility to prevent the virus from spreading through families. Hadden said the CDC recommends that people self-quarantine at home but wear a mask and maintain a six-foot distance from others.

City Manager Reese Goad said all City departments have put Continuity of Operation Plans in place, and additional steps will be taken as the situation unfolds.

  1. Sorry about the three posts. My system went nuts… must have been the Russians. My guess is that we’re either massively overreacting, in the middle of the greatest election meddling scheme of our time, or there’s something their not telling us. But to your question, I know no one who is infected… and I know and communicate with a lot of people all over this country.

So… stay safe, wash your hands, and buy toilet paper.

  2. ooooohhh… I like that angle. Be safe, wash your hands, buy toilet paper and cans of cream corn. May God bell you and yours also…

    1. Thank God you’re back, Edward. Thought maybe you got stuck in line for TP. Still breathing- can anyone name ONE person they know, or someone that knows someone that has this virus? There’s something brewing behind the scenes, hope its for the good.

  3. Good morning everyone… just checking in to see if we’re all dead yet… hmmm, nope; doesn’t look like it…

Onward then, with the MHPO (Manufactured Hysteria by the Perpetually Outraged) presented by: “The 2020 American Media PACdemic”… where creating unreasonable panic, designed to damage America and meddle in our own elections, is our business.

Sponsored by: AATPM (American Association of Toilet Paper Manufacturing)… because after all… you may not always be sick, but you’ll always have to wipe your Democrat.

    1. Mornin’ Ed. Happy St. Patricks Day. Little early on my response this morning, got to go to work. I can do that, since this is all a military psyop to arrest bad guys. God bless.

    1. Eric reporting in. Still blessed with good health. The only thing anyone actually has is toilet paper. Maybe.
Maybe the virus will drain the swamp.

  5. January 11: Chinese state media report the first known death from an illness originating in the Wuhan market.
January 15: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) holds a vote to send articles of impeachment to the Senate. Pelosi and House Democrats celebrate the “solemn” occasion with a signing ceremony, using commemorative pens.

    Let that sink in.

  6. Good morning… just checking in to see if we’re all dead yet from the 2020 Media PACdemic.

Nope, all seems to be well. Carry on… be safe, buy toilet paper, and wash your hands.

  7. With the cancellation of all sports and Springtime, Tallahassee will be taking a severe hit to its business pocketbook.
First off the table should be the Children’s Services Council. Kill it.
Next should be a new wave of fiscal conservatism that better matches future spending to new revenue projections.
How many days before the commissars start talking about RAISING OUR PROPERTY TAXES to compensate for this shortfall?
    No!
We’ve been hit hard enough by this Covid-19 fear mongering.
We need to DEMAND the commissars reduce spending, not dig deeper into our pockets.

  8. Good morning… just checking in to see if we’re all dead yet, like some in the media would have us believe…

Nope, all seems to be well. Carry on… be safe and wash your hands.

  9. Almost all of us are going to make it- the truly SICK people will disappear- I love all of you and your comments usually grant a hearty chuckle.

God bless and protect our Families, our State, our Nation.
