Leon County Employment Takes Hit in January

The job gains in Leon County during the fall months were all but erased in January. And while seasonal trends predict job losses in January, the magnitude of the losses are significant. The numbers reported are preliminary and subject to revisions.

The latest employment information shows that Leon County lost 3,346 jobs in January. One year ago Leon County lost 1,128 jobs. The unemployment rate in January increased from 2.5% last month to 3.1%.

One year ago the unemployment rate was 3.8%.

The number of people working in January 2020 increased when compared to last year. The Leon County Jobs Report, listed below, indicates that 151,352 were working in January, 2020. This is 1,486 more than the 149,866 reported working in January last year.

Also, the labor force expanded when compared to one year ago. The January, 2020 workforce was 156,219 compared to 155,774 last year.

At the state-level, 85,000 jobs were lost in January, 2020. The unemployment rate increased from 2.5% in December to 3.0% in January.

  1. If you think the Jan. number is bad, wait until March gets released. Heck, the Fake Newocrat might even be forced to layoff 1 of its 4 remaining PRESSTITUTES.
