  1. So hard to know how to interpret some data or know what to believe. I appreciate this story to provide some perspective. It made me want to look statewide using a larger data set. Unfortunately it is not as positive. As of noon on 7/6, there are 3,778 deaths from Covid-19 reported by FDOH. That puts Covid #8 in 6 months compared to the 2018 statewide data.

I’ll keep wearing a face mask for now as a precaution. It would be nice to see numbers come down some before schools start again.

  2. What is with the same Trolls posting negative half truths at best? Every local article I read has News Maven and Whiplash something or other, projectile vomiting out narrow minded glimpses of their sad lives. Is this your hobby? Trolling news articles? I often wonder what your credentials are? More importantly, if both of you distrust the media so much…why are you even bother reading the articles? Aren’t you missing kool-aid mixing time at cult class?

  3. Continuation of my previous post – To those who understand, no explanation is necessary. To those who don’t understand, it seems that none will do.

  4. There is no number for Immortality. % people changing minds from data 0%.

However, thanks for posting. What a wonderful news source!

  5. You know what this shows?

There are a lot of people in Leon County with health conditions that make them more susceptible to having a very serious, if not life threatening reaction to Covid-19.

This virus is extremely contagious, more so than the flu and health professionals still don’t know everything what toll it may take on it’s surviving victims in the future.

My husband has Cancer and is fighting for his life. He and others with serious health conditions should be given the opportunity to fight their diseases, Cancers and other health conditions.

For the people in their teens and twenties and other demographics who are actively engaging in high risk behaviors PLEASE STOP.

DON’T OVERWHELM THE LOCAL HOSPITALS by passing this virus around recklessly.

GIVE PEOPLE WITH CANCER AND OTHER SERIOUS HEALTH CONDITIONS A CHANCE TO FIGHT SO THEY MAY BE WITH THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM SO DEEPLY.

    Thank you.

  7. Here’s what needs to be reviewed: # of deaths in Florida in 2020 attributed to pneumonia versus previous years. There is speculation that virus deaths figures in 2020 are deflated because deaths were attributed to pneumonia instead.

    1. I agree. That said, there is a financial incentive to attribute to Covid and there is not one for pneumonia. There is also the report out of New York where normal death rates from Heart Disease, Hypertension, and renal failure were significantly depressed over the first three months of the year. Again indicating in a population where no or under-insured persons are treated, it is financially rewarding to attribute to Covid to recover treatment costs.

    2. I’m not sure I understand. You say the virus deaths are deflated because some may have been attributed to pneumonia. Then Tango 247 points our there is a financial incentive to diagnose COVID. If the hospitals are diagnosing many other conditions as COVID, aren’t they inflating COVID case numbers for the government money?
The Director of the CDC stated deaths are being attributed to COVID regardless of other medical or trauma conditions present, in many cases without lab verification.

  8. Thank you for this. I am certain someone more mathematically inclined will fix my estimate but here is my simple guy math:
8 attributed Covid-19 deaths as of today. That works out to be 6 months of deaths or 1.33 deaths a month. Assuming no better efficacy in treatment, 1.33 x 12 months yields 16 deaths from Covid-19 for 2020. That fits it between HIV and Homicide and well short (66%) of predicted Flu and Pneumonia according to the chart. To “catch” the flu / pneumonia fatality rate the Covid-19 deaths would have to exactly double (2.66 per month) over the next 6 months.

    1. They will “fix” that by moving some of the heart attack fatalities into the Kung Flu column.
      How?
They will chalk them up to panics from the Panicdemic.

  9. With all the fake news media induced Rona panicking you would think Rona would be beating all those 2018 deaths by thousands and thousands in 2020 by now.
Where are we now with 2020 Leon Rona deaths 7 or maybe 9?
