City Meetings to Return to City Hall After Months of Virtual Meetings

On Oct. 22, the City of Tallahassee announced that City meetings will return to City Hall after being held virtually since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Executive Order 20-246, local government bodies were provided an extra month to conduct meetings virtually and were instructed to begin meeting in person again on Nov. 1. The City’s first meeting back in person will be the City Commission meeting on Oct. 28 at 3:00 p.m. The meeting will include the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) special board meeting.

According to the City’s press release, citizens will have three options for making public comments: in person at the meeting, online via written submission and online in real-time via Zoom.

The City press release also noted that masks will be required to be worn inside City Hall and capacity inside the chambers will be limited to allow adequate room for physical distancing. Overflow space will be set up on the second floor, if needed.

Written public comments can be submitted online until 9 p.m. on Oct. 27, the day before the meeting. Once a first comment is submitted, a second can also be submitted. Citizens will also have the opportunity to register to make Zoom public comments until 9 p.m. on Oct. 27.

The meeting will also continue to be live-streamed through WCOT Channel 13 as well as the City’s website.

  1. It’s about time. I hated watching the Meeting on Zoom. I hope the County Meetings goes back to the Courthouse too.

  2. It looks like our Mayor Flintstone is getting a little too thin in the face.
This disturbs us locals and if it continues hes going to begin to look less and less like our favorite American Television Actor “Super Star” Fred Flintstone.
I am not happy with this turn of events and am placing my hopes that the Holiday Feasting Season will but an end to this disturbing thinning of our Mayor. Where’s the fun in that? I ask you!
