November Report: Leon County Jobs Stagnate, Unemployment Rate Up

The latest employment information shows that Leon County lost 847 jobs in November. One year ago Leon County lost 981 jobs. The unemployment rate in November increased to 5.6% from 5.0% in October. One year ago the November unemployment rate was 2.5%.

The number of people working in November, 2020 is less when compared to last year. The Leon County Jobs Report, listed below, indicates that 141,015 people were working in November 2020. This is 14,846 less than the 155,861 reported working in November of last year.

Also, the labor force decreased when compared to one year ago. The November 2020 workforce was 149,326 compared to 159,913 last year.

At the state-level, 4,000 jobs were lost in November after adding 69,000 jobs in October, 2020. The November unemployment rate remained unchanged from the October rate of 6.3%.

The chart below shows the monthly level of jobs in Leon County over the last three years with a 12-month average trend line. After several months of growth following the impact of COVID mitigation policies, Leon County employment has remained approximately 15,000 jobs below last years level during August, September, October and November.

  1. Leon county is killing it’s own jobs. Continuous self suffocation device mandates are keeping people away. It also keeps the fear agenda alive. People know this is not normal living so they are not; living!
