Weekly Report Ending Jan. 17th: Leon COVID Cases and Positivity Rate Down, Hospitalizations Up

TR’s weekly report (January 10 – January 17) on Leon County COVID cases, hospitalizations, and testing positivity rates is detailed below.

The weekly report, ending January 10th, shows decreases in new cases and the positivity rate while hospitalizations finished the week up.

The Numbers

The Leon County 7-day average (yellow-line) of reported COVID cases moved from 292 cases on January 10th to 213 cases on January 17th, a 27.1% decrease.

The Leon County 7-day average (yellow-line) of reported COVID hospitalizations changed from 111 on January 10th to 129 on January 17th, a 16.2% increase.

The Leon County 7-day average (yellow line) COVID positivity rate changed from 9.3% on January 10th to 7.2% on January 17th, a 22.6% decrease.

  1. The economic disasters caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic will be nothing compared to the economic disasters caused by the JOEVID-20 Demdemic. Gas prices already up by .30 cents in just one day.

  2. It would be interesting to know how much vaccine is available in Leon County, how many shots have been given and who is giving the most shots. It would be of interest to know what is limiting the number of shots being given. For instance it is understandable if shots were limited because of the availability of the vaccine but not so understandable if the number of shots given is limited because work hours have not be increased to match the emergency nature of the virus.
