The latest jobs report shows that Leon County added 190 jobs in March. One year ago Leon County lost 2,024 jobs. The unemployment rate in March 2021 was 4.6%, unchanged from the revised February number. One year ago the March unemployment rate was 5.0%.
The number of people working in March 2021 is less when compared to last year. The Leon County Jobs Report, listed below, indicates that 148,404 people were working in March 2021. This is 1,691 less than the 150,095 people reported working in March 2020.
Also, the labor force decreased when compared to one year ago. The March 2021 workforce was 155,578 compared to 157,990 during March last year.
At the state-level, 24,000 jobs were lost in March when compared to February 2021. The March unemployment rate increased from 5.1% in February to 5.3%.

After several months of growth following the impact of COVID mitigation policies, Leon County employment remains approximately 4,000 jobs below pre-pandemic levels. As noted below, Leon County’s March 2021 employment level of 148,214 is comparable to the March 2018 level of 148,207.
