Weekly Report Ending May 2nd: Hospitalizations Down, Cases, Positivity Up

TR’s weekly report (April 26 – May 2) on Leon County COVID cases, hospitalizations, and testing positivity rates is detailed below.

The weekly COVID report, ending May 2nd, shows increases in cases and the positivity rate and a decline in hospitalizations.

Since the middle of January 2021, the charts below show a significant downward trend in the three indicators. However, over the last four weeks the number of cases and the positivity rate has been trending up. The positivity rate has crossed the five-percent threshold for the first time in more than a month.

The Numbers

The Leon County 7-day average (yellow-line) of reported COVID cases moved from 41.4 cases on April 25th to 64.6 cases on May 2nd, a 56.0% increase.

The Leon County 7-day average (yellow-line) of reported COVID hospitalizations changed from 19.6 on April 25th to 17.4 reported on May 2nd, a 11.2% decrease.

The Leon County 7-day average (yellow line) COVID positivity rate changed from 4.1% on April 25th to 5.6% on May 2nd, a 36.6% increase.
