June Unemployment Rate Up,  More People Working Than Before COVID

The latest jobs report shows that there were 152,355 people working in Leon County in June, which is 1,255 less than last month’s revised employment number.

The June unemployment rate came in at 3.1%, up from the 2.5% reported last month. One year ago, the June 2021 unemployment rate was 4.8%. In June, 2019 the unemployment rate was 3.0%.

Due to the impact of the COVID pandemic, the Leon County Jobs Report, provided below, includes comparison data back to 2019.

The number of people working in June 2022 was 5,840 more than those working in June 2019 and was 6,109 more than in June 2021.

The June 2021 labor force – those looking for jobs – came in at 157,218 which was 5,297 greater than the number reported in June 2019.

The chart below shows the monthly level of jobs in Leon County over the last 37 months with a 12-month average trend line. The highlighted numbers relate to employment levels for the month of June back to 2019.

  1. If you include the professional criminal, the local illegal drug business, the full time Bums and all the welfare workers we are doing pretty well. People do not work because there are easier ways to get money.

    Cut welfare/EBT benefits and get real tough on crime. Make it “if you don’t work you don’t eat” and unemployment will disappear.

  2. The Democrats’ persistent policies of killing our energy industry, printing exorbitant amounts of money, and in all things “America Last” have driven our economy into the ground. Whether they (Democrats and their RINO collaborators) have done this intentionally or through incompetence or both, it doesn’t matter. How you vote and if you vote matters so vote and vote smart.

    High gas prices and high food prices are stressful. But what will we do if there are shortages of these essentials?
