Superintendent Rocky Hanna Files for Re-Election

On January 2, 2023, Leon County Schools Superintendent Rocky Hanna filed to run for re-election in 2024. Hanna was first elected in 2016 and was subsequently re-elected in 2020.

In a post on Facebook, Hanna said, “Over the holidays my family and I made the decision to file for reelection in 2024. I realize this announcement is very early in the process but I felt as though it was important to let our community know my intentions.”

Hanna noted he was “proud of our accomplishments over the last 6 years my work is not yet finished. The nearly two year COVID interruption put several priorities on hold and I am committed to finishing the job I started in 2016.”

Hanna, who has previously ran with no party affiliation, registered to run as a Democrat.

Hanna explained his decision to run as a Democrat by writing, “A recent change in the law no longer allows me to remain registered as a Democrat and run for the office of Superintendent of Schools with No Party Affiliation. Because of this new law, and the fact that I have been a registered Democrat for the past 32 years who is proud of the party’s unwavering support of the public school system I will be seeking reelection as a Democrat.”

Hanna concluded his announcement by stating, “As a lifelong resident of Tallahassee, a product of our public schools and a 35 year employee of the Leon County School District it is truly an honor to serve as Superintendent. I am looking forward to continuing our journey to ensure that our schools remain safe and provide for our students a high quality and enriching education.”

  1. That he affirms that he himself is a product of the Leon County Public Indoctrination System, is all one needs to know that this Marxicrat should be opposed and kept far away from our children.
