On Tuesday, the Leon County School Board will address a proposed change to LCS policies and the LCS Inclusive School Guide (Guide) related to which bathrooms students can use and parental rights related to gender issues. Get the details.

Vice President Kamala Harris delivered remarks on the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade in Tallahassee, where hundreds of people packed a local nightlife venue to rally for abortion rights. The theme of her message: America’s promise of “freedom and liberty — not for some, but for all.”

Tallahassee Police is investigating a bank robbery on Saturday. TPD responded to a Wells Fargo around 9:00 a.m. after an individual allegedly walked into the bank and approached the teller and said that it was a robbery. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries and no arrests have yet taken place.

The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating a fatal crash Saturday evening that left one pedestrian dead. A vehicle was traveling north on U.S. Highway 27 around 8:13 p.m. in the area of Session Road. Get the details.

Last Friday evening three people were killed in a head-on collision in Leon County. The crash occurred near Balkins Road and Capital Circle Southwest. Two SUVs were involved and all who perished in the crash were from Tallahassee.

Florida Sen. Rick Scott said over the weekend that he believes Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell could have stopped the IRS from hiring 87,000 new agents. “Well, I ran against Iran against Mitch McConnell because, you know, he’s been caving into the Democrats. You know, he supported the omnibus bill,” Scott said. He continued by questioning why they couldn’t wait two more weeks to work on the omnibus package before Republicans took over the House.

A new bill in the Florida Legislature could allow high schools to offer pregame prayer over the loudspeakers before championship athletic events. Schools would be afforded two minutes before the game and the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) could not “control, monitor, or review the content of the opening remarks and may not control the school’s choice of speaker.”

SPORTS NEWS

Florida State men’s and women’s basketball got wins over the weekend. The men’s team defeated the Pitt Panthers on the road 71-64 with Darin Green Jr. scoring 24 points along with Matthew Cleveland and Caleb Mills scoring.

The women’s team also defeated the Pitt Panthers but at home, and in blowout fashion. They won 74-37 with the Panthers shooting just 15 percent from the field. Ta’Niya Latson and Sara Bejedi both had 19 points.

  1. True: It’s also important to note that during Knee Pads Harris’ speech, she referenced the Declaration if Independence. You all know the line, “… they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

    … only she intentionally left out the word “Life”… not once, but twice. Because in the Marxicrat world, you don’t have a right to life.

    How is that a theme for an abortion rights rally? It would make more sense as a theme for a pro-life rally. Also, hundreds of people attending the rally is not an impressive crowd considering the population of Tallahassee and given that the city is a Democrat stronghold.

    @David, I was wondering the same thing about the bank being open on Sunday morning. Misprint? I guess.

  3. I think had the pro-abortion folks been reasonable, the results may have been different. Allowing minors to have abortions without parental consent, and abortion up to and immediately after birth of the baby is way too extreme.

    And to Rick Scott (and Rubio, Dunn and DeSantas), we do not need you to tell us who to blame. Do something. Accomish something.

    It was a big weekend for crime.

  6. McConnell rushed the omnibus spending bill just like local Ghazvini Chambercrats rushed Welaunee developer giveaway that will damage NE quality of life and waste all city infrastructure dollars. SMH
