Josh Johnson, former Leon County Commission candidate and current teacher at Godby High School, will appear on The Steve Stewart Show today at 12:15 p.m. to discuss the controversy related to the AP African American Studies course.
Saying that the African-American studies course “lacks educational value,” Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration is defending its rejection of the curriculum, while Black religious leaders and elected officials are pledging to “fight like hell” against the decision.

Why do black religious leaders and elected officials want queer theory or intersectionality to be part of an African American history course?
What is the educational value of queer theory? intersectionality?
How is removing queer theory or intersectionality, from the course, racist?
The course in question is an AP course so it is for the students that can read above grade level. What does Mr. Johnson think can be done for the students, roughly half of all students, that read below grade level?
Ask him: What is the percentage number of Black Students currently enrolled in AP Classes at Godby compared to other Races? As well as in other High Schools in Tallahassee?
I don’t think it’s healthy for a High School teacher to engage in activism especially at the school he teaches at has a high rate of problems, expulsions, and suspensions not to mention the gun issues.
Josh needs to concentrate on reducing school truancy and getting the students to graduation on time.
It is sad to see this teacher is influenced by unhealthy left-leaning political agendas.
