The Florida House Commerce Committee approved a bill prohibiting “corporate activism” for state and local government and financial institutions. 1. The national forest is already the best made home…for the flora and fauna…leave it that way. The commissioner’s gall and entitlement to suggest otherwise is nauseating.

  2. A National Forest is NOT a housing project! It is for the peace and enjoyment of all. That’s why we have the saying “leave no trace” for our state parks and National Forests. Having housing in a National Forest would definitely change that.

  3. Barb, I’m pro-life. Last year it was limited to 15 weeks. This year it will be lowered to 6 weeks. What about next year? Will it be a total ban? The problem should have been solve last year, once and for all.

  4. @Pat A. “who does limiting abortion effect?”

So, if you had been aborted, there is no one who would have been effected?

Maybe you should watch the Jimmy Stewart movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

“It is already limited to 15 weeks. Now, he wants to lower it to 6 weeks. Why?”

You were educated but I guess not in biology or in the abortion procedure. Let’s just say, there is less trauma to the baby by limiting the procedure to 6 weeks.

Finally, many people have read the Bible in which God explicitly says “choose life”. Other people are in touch with natural law which tells them to choose life.

In other words, and IMO, good leadership, is why they are pursuing this legislation.

  5. Com. Proctor, leave the Apalachicola National Forest ALONE. Talk St. Joe into giving up some Land instead. How many Affordable Housing do we need in Leon County? Can you give me an actual $Dollar Amount of what Affordable Housing SHOULD Cost? Is it $75K, $100K, $250K?

A new proposal has been filed in the Florida Legislature that would protect monuments of war from defacement but also removal. The legislation would ensure that currently standing historical monuments, including Confederate monuments, would be protected. …………. THIS should have happened YEARS ago.

  6. “The Leon County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tanya Moss”…plus, “a Tallahassee man was found guilty Tuesday (murder)”…yes, we have a black crime problem that liberals want to deflect blame and throw more and more taxpayer money at solving.

“Apalachicola National Forest to the county for housing” let’s just make the whole state a low-income housing state (insert sarcasm). When do we hold the poor accountable for their plight in life? Being poor ain’t as bad as liberals want you to think. Do you really think all the folks living large on government subsidies really want to change? I don’t. I think they are comfortable with their lifestyle.

The 2023 Florida Legislative Session is a joke. IMO, the prominent Republicans decided exactly what bills would be introduce and passed into law without *any* input from constituents. If only the Republicans had a “Super Majority”.

Instead of expediting the execution of the Death Penalty, typically a 28-year process in Florida, the Gov wants to lessen the number of jurors required to award the death penalty. Too close minded on this issue.

The Gov wants to remove soda pop from the list of items you can buy with your EBT card. Really? I’ve seen an EBT card used to purchase a box of Snow Crab Claws. And it is well known that EBT cards are sold for 50 cents on the dollar. Plus, you can withdraw cash from an ATM using your EBT card. Let’s be honest. The poor with an EBT card eat better than the working man.

Permit less carry. Not having a CCW license will lead you into committing a Federal Crime/Felony the moment you drive across a “School Zone” painted on the road. And the Federal Gov has unlimited resources to charge you and get you convicted.

Abortion. Really, who does limiting abortion effect? It is already limited to 15 weeks. Now, he wants to lower it to 6 weeks. Why?

If you watch the legislation in action, you have to wonder, who elected those wacko Democrats to office.

Governor Desantis, read your email. Answer letters from your base. And Corry Simon…do the same. It doesn’t matter that all your legislative efforts have absolutely no positive impact on me. Not a one. My tax bill will grow because nothing you intend to accomplish will protect me from the liberals running Gadsden and Leon County.

Guns. We do not have a gun problem. We have a black crime problem. But that isn’t politically correct to mention.

I worry we are headed toward another 4 years of a Democrat President.

The Florida Republican Party reminds me of the Democrat Party of the late sixties.
