FLORIDA NEWS

Ahead of the Florida Legislature considering a bill that would eliminate funding for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs at Florida’s 12 public universities, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, once again, decried the left-leaning thinking. “Instead of inclusion, the people that dissent from this orthodoxy are marginalized,” DeSantis said. “It’s using the administrative apparatus of the university to impose an ideological agenda.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also condemned President Joe Biden’s policy regarding the southern border as a violation of the oath of office. “Well, what the ruling basically says is that Joe Biden has been violating the law, his oath of office and the Constitution,” DeSantis said. “They are using this idea of parole and they are converting it into a way to nullify our immigration laws as one of the reasons you’ve had millions and millions of people illegally pour across the border.”

  1. “If the LCSB is true to itself, it will be decided well after they realized they should have started planning this when I brought it up.”

My take is that it will be decided after they realize what a cluster they’ve created and can spin the decision to make it look like they’re “rescuing” a lot of voters…..

  2. @ A Skeptic = I would say at the same time since there is an Elementary School right down the Road on Orange & Meridian. This new Subdivision should flood that School and Rickards and the Jr. High on Orange a bit West of S. Monroe.

  3. @David — Any idea when the Apalachee school zone should shift? It would certainly make life easier for families with children that live out that way.

  4. @ NE Moderate = You should see what the City Permitted on southside. They approved an over 740 Acre Subdivision that goes from Rickards High School on Paul Russell Rd, to Blair Stone Rd. to Merchants Row (Southwood) to Tram Rd. They are clear cutting it now. Two things they have not started on and most likely wont until the very end is, ONE: Road Widening and Turn Lanes and TWO: All the NEW Students that will be going to Rickards and the other Schools in the area. Living out by Appalachee Regional Park, my School Zone should change from Rickards to Lincoln soon. https://tallahasseereports.com/2021/12/07/tallahassee-city-commission-to-hold-public-hearing-on-new-southeast-neighborhood/
