BREAKING NEWS: Chiles High School Football Coach on Leave Pending Investigation

According to Leon County Schools, Chiles High School football coach Kevin Pettis has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into allegations of possible athletic violations.

TR has been told that the investigation relates to an allegation that Pettis solicited a Chiles player to injure another player during a game last fall.

In addition, TR has been provided documentation that indicates students that transferred to Chiles High School from other zones to play football at Chiles used fraudulent documentation.

TR wrote about a previous investigation related to the Chiles football program back in May, 2021. An investigation by Chiles High School administrators into a complaint lodged against Pettis determined that the allegations – which included bullying and the use of demeaning language – were not confirmed. The finding was based on nine surveys completed by randomly selected football players and interviews of adults affiliated with the program.

Parents told TR they believed the four day investigation was rushed and did not give fair consideration to the detailed complaints.

This is developing story.

  1. Coach KP is a great coach and treats everyone fairly, when I played he treated everyone like family and is a amazing coach and coaches well.

  2. Sort of sounds like how the City and County Commissioners team up with developers to treat Tallahassee residents.

  3. You have to be a masochist or a glutton for punishment to want to be a high school football coach. They couldn’t pay enough to deal with all that nonsense.

  4. Here we go again, I have had parents reach out to me concerning getting rid of Coach Pettis because they felt as though too many other kids were coming in and out playing their kids time on the field and they didn’t think it was fair. I have been to my grandson games and have witnessed Coach Pettis treating all players fairly . Of course, if you have a team that is losing, you will want to keep striving to win the game and keep your strong players in. These parents has also invited me to come over to their private house meetings to discuss Coach, but I turned down the invite. Coach Pettis has been there to help my grandson to be more focused in his schooling by being a good example. These accusations are really ridiculous. When some people don’t get their way about certain things this is how they react.

  5. No surprise. This school is known for covering up and protecting their coaches. So glad we transferred our child out of this dysfunctional place that prides themselves on harassment and bullying by claiming “you’re the first to have a complaint”, blaming the athlete or that their internal investigation had no findings. Such a joke. Time to clean house starting from the top.

  6. Part one, could be true with the bounty part. Who knows, the investigation will tell all.
Part two with fraud docs is unlikely. That is Lincoln’s playbook from the past and Chiles has never really been any good at this sport.
