A Tallahassee woman has been arrested for assaulting Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz during a Miramar Beach festival. Forty-one year old Selena Chambers “intentionally threw a glass of wine at Representative Gaetz after shouting obscenities at him.” She was charged with “battery on an elected official and issued a $1,000 bond” before being released the following day.” Gaetz said he will be pressing charges and described the woman as a “left-wing author.”

The Leon County Commission opted to allocate $25,000 to installing street lights at Leon County school bus stops in rural areas. County Commissioner Christian Caban said that new street light developments in rural and unincorporated communities will now require developer “land code” plans to include street lighting for youth bus stops.

FLORIDA NEWS

Florida lawmakers have agreed to a $116 billion budget in the legislative session’s final week. Among some of the initiatives receiving funding include increased crackdowns on approximately 800,000 illegal aliens, going after Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs at state universities. One of the other bills passed early this week is lowering the rifle purchasing age from 21 to 18. The budget is $1 billion more than what Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis requested. DeSantis still holds the constitutional ability to issue line-item vetoes to budgetary items.

The Florida Legislature is also sending a bill to Gov. DeSantis’s desk that would add more limits to school board terms. The bill would limit the terms to eight years, just one year after DeSantis signed a bill lowering the term length to 12 years. The bill passed in the Senate by a vote of 30-7, with the seven votes coming from Democrats.

  1. Well at least our older leftist Nannies and our younger two wokester Nannies have not yet told us how much we will have our property tax jacked to pay slavery reperations………………………yet.
Oh darn me and my big mouth.
Ignore what I just said you older and younger Nannies!

  2. Dailey casually mentioned hiring 20 new cops as we are experiencing budget issues. Do you know how expensive that would be?

$1.2 million a year in salaries alone, much more with benefits and pension we all pay for. TPD doesn’t use what it has already efficiently at all. How about no crooked PBA Union tax raise and consolidate TPD. We are tax enough already!

  3. The rural bus stop lighting needs more explanation. If it’s rural, there may not be power nearby. Or do they plan on installing solar lighting? How do you control the on/off cycle on solar lighting?

  4. 116 bn is about 6000 taxes for every resident. On top of about 20k for federal taxes. Then there’s local taxes, and all sorts of fees. What’s left for me? Do less govt.

  5. Why can’t we just put a light at bus stops that need them? Seems like a pretty simple concept, which is an anathema to politicians like Caban. They aren’t happy until seven layers of redundant red tape are added to everything. While they spend the second half of their careers running against red tape!

Just put up a light at stops that need them. Spend a few mornings driving around to all the bus stops and put a light at the ones that aren’t well lit. It ain’t rocket science it shouldn’t require a “procedure” and an army of staff complete with meetings, recommendations, and congratulatory. awards!

This city is run by maroons.

  6. ALL Elected Offices should have Term Limits.

$25,000 for Bus Stop Lighting? I am assuming that there is a Grant some where being used because $25K doesn’t seem nearly enough.
